Mouse, keyboard and media
Open a shared Device and select Take control. Input pauses if the screen is stale or disconnected.
Open a Device in another tab#
Each Device has its own /remote/<deviceId> address. Use Cmd-click, Ctrl-click,
middle-click or your browser's Open link in new tab on a Device card or the
Device list. You can bookmark the address, refresh it, and use Back or Forward
to return to a Device.
Each tab has its own remote connection. The first tab to take control keeps it, even when both tabs are signed in to the same account. Another tab can watch that Device or control a different Device, within your plan's live-screen limit. Device links still require sign-in and access in the current Workspace.
Mouse controls#
| Computer action | Device action |
|---|---|
| Click / double-click | Tap / double-tap |
| Drag, then release | Swipe |
| Mouse wheel | Scroll |
| Right-click or hold | Long press |
| Home button | Home screen |
A drag sends its swipe on release. Releasing outside the screen finishes at its edge. Losing window focus cancels an unfinished gesture; hiding the tab releases control.
Multitouch gestures, audio, Face ID and protected-screen interactions are not supported as a complete replacement for using the Device in person.
On a mobile browser#
Tap, double-tap, hold, or drag and release on the shared screen. Choose Keyboard to type; ordinary screen taps do not open your mobile keyboard. Home and Open Content Library are directly below the screen. Tools stack underneath. Use Delete and Return if your mobile keyboard does not send those keys.
Keep this browser tab visible. Switching apps releases control; reconnect and take control again when you return.
Control stays yours until you choose Release control, press Escape on the screen, or open another Device. If one tap is not confirmed by the phone, tame takes control again for you straight away and shows what happened. If the phone keeps refusing, control is handed back so you can check it.
Type, paste and delete#
The keyboard is on by default. While you have control, click a field on the Device, then type or paste: your keys go straight to it. Unicode and multiline text are supported. Backspace and Delete delete before the Device's cursor; Enter sends Return.
Choose Turn off beside Keyboard on to keep your typing in this browser, for example to use the page's own shortcuts. tame remembers the choice in this browser until you choose Turn on.
Use Draft before sending to review up to 2,000 characters, then choose Send text. Tap the Platform app's own button to submit or publish. If sending is not confirmed, check the Device before retrying.
Use iOS selection controls to select text. Command+A and Control+A are not translated to iOS Select All.
Keyboard pointer mode#
Enable Keyboard pointer mode and focus the screen. Arrow keys move the pointer, Enter taps, Space holds, and Shift+arrows scroll. Escape on the screen releases control.
Upload and send media to Photos#
- Open Content Library beside the Device.
- Select an item, or expand Upload media and finish uploading.
- With control active, select the item and choose Send to Device.
- Wait for Saved to Photos, then choose the media in the Platform app.
Uploading saves to the cloud Library; sending copies to Photos. Neither publishes a post. Sending supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, MP4 and MOV up to the displayed 400 MB limit. Screen and input pause during delivery. If confirmation is missing, check Photos before sending again.
Use caption in draft copies the default caption. Captions over 2,000 characters are shortened in the draft, with a notice; the Library keeps the full caption.
Library access and storage#
The panel shows the Device's Client media and available shared Workspace media. VAs upload to the Device's Client Library, not the Workspace-wide Library.
All uploads count toward the customer Workspace's storage allowance, including VA uploads. Sending a copy to Photos does not remove the cloud original. See Content Library storage.
A to-do list for each Device#
To do, at the top of the column beside the phone, is a short list for that Device. Everyone who may control the Device sees the same list, and anyone can add an item, tick one off or remove one.
It takes one line until it is used: choose Add to write the first item. A Device with items opens its list by itself. Hide folds it back to one line that still shows how many are open, and this browser remembers that for every Device until you choose Show.
Every item expires. Choose 1h, 12h, 24h or 7 days, or Date to pick a day and time up to 90 days ahead. An item disappears when its time comes, done or not. Each item shows how long it has left and who added it.
The list is read when you open the Device and again whenever you change it. Choose Refresh to see what a teammate added since.
