Share and control Devices
Control an iOS Device from a browser on another computer, including Windows. The Device stays connected by USB to its Mac.
What you need#
- An active Studio or Agency subscription in the customer's Workspace.
- An awake, online Mac running the Desktop App.
- A prepared Device that is Ready, with automation stopped.
- A sign-in with access to that Workspace and Device.
Share from the Mac#
- Open Fleet → Remote control in the Desktop App.
- Enable Allow remote control beside each Device to share.
- Leave the Mac awake and the Devices connected. Enable sharing again after restarting the Desktop App.
Choose Devices manages plan capacity; it does not enable broadcasting. If sharing is unavailable, follow the cause shown beside the Device.
Take control in the browser#
- Open Remote control in the Web App.
- Find a Device by name, model or iOS version, then open it.
- Wait for its live picture and select Take control.
Grid previews update at up to 1 FPS. Opening a Device requests its live screen at a target of 20 FPS with the updated Device runtime. Actual frame rate depends on the Device and connection. Older runtimes remain capped at 20 FPS until the Device is prepared with the updated Desktop App. One Operator can control each Device at a time. See Mouse, keyboard and media for controls.
Recognizable Device names#
Use the pencil beside a Device in Fleet to save a name you recognize. Remote Control uses that name in its grid, selected Device heading and search. Web App and MCP name changes appear after the Mac syncs. Renaming keeps the same Device and does not end an active control session.
Stop or release control#
Use Release control, or Escape in the Device controls. Hiding the tab, switching Workspace or losing a fresh screen also releases control. Moving the mouse outside the screen does not.
On the Mac, disable sharing for one Device or select Stop sharing all Devices. Ordinary automation waits while sharing is active. Delegated warmup has a separate permission.
Screen privacy#
Access covers the whole Device, including visible apps, Accounts and notifications. Share only Devices the Operator should be allowed to use in full.
Live screen images and typed input are not stored by the remote control service. Uploaded Library media is stored separately. Viewers can still capture what their own computer displays.
For missing Devices or stalled screens, see Troubleshooting.
The updated runtime is included with the Desktop App. After updating and restarting tame, keep your Devices connected and wait for Ready in Fleet. During preparation, tame automatically replaces older runtimes and verifies the new version before reporting Ready. Then enable Allow remote control again. There is no separate runtime download; your existing Xcode and signing setup is used.
